Modified
Probationary Fire Personnel
Modified Probationary Fire Personnel (Previous and/or
current fire experience)
1. Application process been completed and accepted.
2. Candidate produced
sufficient documentation and/or certifications of current/prior fire service.
3. Consultation with
the Fire Chief and Training Officer prior to probation period.
4. Begin 90-day
probation period. May be modified by Chief.
5. Responsibilities;
• Satisfy required
probationary training.
• Attend regular
scheduled training.
• Only excused
absences will be accepted.
• Notification to a
Department Officer prior to absence.
• Non-notification
of absence shall be recorded as Unexcused.
• 3-unexcused
absences will place the MPFP in jeopardy of being dismissed from the
department.
6. Required Training;
• Pre-test and
Skills Evaluation
•
• General fire
knowledge test. (50 questions)
• Adjust MPFP
accordingly post pre-test.
• 1-hour smoke house
training
• 1-hour department
orientation
• 1-hour department
jurisdiction
• 1-hour department
rules and regulations
• 2-hours apparatus
familiarization; (E2, E3, B3, BT4 and R10)
• Final Exam
• Skills test
• MPFP training
sheet properly documented
• All required
paperwork submitted to department training officer
7. Probationary
period;
• Unless otherwise
authorized by the Fire Chief
• MPFP shall not
operate and/or drive any departmental apparatus
• MPFP shall be
allowed as per training officer to operate and/or drive departmental apparatus
as deemed necessary for training purposes.
• MPFP shall not
participate in any emergency incident
• MPFP shall be
issued
• MPFP shall not be
issued Minitor pager and or radio
• MPFP shall not be
issued department key(s)
• MPFP will be
trained by authorized departmental instructors
• MPFP will
participate in apparatus and station maintenance only when a shift leader is
present
• Complete required
training
• Department will
not invest in any outside training for a MPFP
